Well, Portland just got blasted with about eighteen inches of snow (that is A LOT for us), which means I am hunkering down to hang out at home the next couple of days developing film, making prints, and catching up on photographic work.
The weather outside reminds me of another time I was stuck doing photographs indoors. It wasn't snowing, but it was bitterly cold on this particular day. I'm sure we've all felt the kind of cold I'm talking about; when the wind just pierces through your body no matter how many layers you choose to wear.
As such, I was stuck taking pictures in a very tiny space. It was pretty tough not to get myself in the frame of the image but I didn't mind. I mean, if Helmut Newton can get away with it, why can't I? I'm not in any way suggesting I'm in the same league as such an iconic artist, but I'm also not going to deny he popped into my head when I was looking at myself in the mirror holding a Rolleiflex TLR.
