I haven't used any of my Holga cameras in a long while. Despite the fact that the trend of the Holga seems to have faded from view a little bit, I still find these plastic cameras incredibly charming and fun. This is especially true when using them as a creative exercise. It’s liberating to just point and shoot and point and shoot and point and shoot. Sometimes you get something great. Sometimes you don’t. In fact, most of the time you don’t. When film was cheaper I was a bit more enthusiastic about this whole ethos of making images but now days with color film being at least $10 dollars a roll (often far more) that is a little more difficult to have fun with.
Still, every so often I will find bargains on very expired color film and when that happens I don’t mind throwing a roll or two into the Holga and seeing what happens.
