I had another photoshoot with Devi last week and I decided for once to work with some color film. I was pretty excited to do some work with color for a change, especially in an indoor setting right as the warm colors of the fall sunrise were in full swing.
For this particular image I was using my trusty old Minolta SRT-101 with the classic 58mm f/1.4 lens attached. That is probably my favorite set up when working with 35mm film, especially when working with people. Everything about that set up tends to be just right for me. The right field of view. The right about of sharpness. The right character to the bokeh. Color rendering slightly on the warm side. Just perfect.
Admittedly, this image is a bit soft but that isn’t due to anything but user error on my part. Due to the fact that this scene was very much back lit I was exposing frames all the way down to about 1/15th of a second. Not really ideal, but I think I made it work. The slight softness doesn’t really bother me. If anything, I think I managed to get a bit of a dream like quality out of this particular frame.
