Arrakis, Dune, Desert Planet. Yeah, I’m a big giant nerd sometimes. I still get a kick out of the fact that I was fortunate enough to do a photoshoot at the very place where Frank Herbert was inspired to write his classic novel Dune. It seems very odd that the location that would inspire that book would be located in the Pacific Northwest but considering Frank Herbert lived in Tacoma Washington at the time it makes a certain kind of sense.
I’ve been meaning to take another trip down to this area of the world now that winter is on the horizon. I feel like it would be a really fun place to make some photographs if there are clouds in the sky or if it is overcast. When I visited the Oregon Dunes earlier in 2019 the sun was incredibly harsh and though I am incredibly happy with the photographs that I made, working in bright sun without any shade or cloud cover can be a challenge.
Plus I just really like the area and want to visit it again.
