I won’t deny life has been a little bit challenging lately. I went through some major changes to my living situation not long ago and the onset of COVID-19 has left me in a bit of a financial bind. I’m lucky in the sense that I have a job (many don’t…) but unlucky in the sense that the job that I have is grinding me to the bone and not paying me all that well to boot. Seventy plus hours per week are more or less the norm and the powers in charge know they can get away with it because someone else desperate for a job is just waiting around the corner.
I’m incredibly tired, physically and emotionally, and photography has been my only relief during this moment of uncertainty and chaos.
Which brings me to this lovely photograph. It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for a good natural light nude. I’ve done my share of work using strobe lights, flood lights, and just about any other form of artificial light one can think of but nothing ever compares to the lovely light that comes from the sun. I used my trusty Minolta SRT-101 loaded with Fomapan 100 speed film to capture this scene and developed the negative in Rodinal. This is one of those technical combination that more or less never fails me in any situation. The results may be a tad grainy but the sharpness more than makes up for it.
