I would argue this image is one of my better examples of stand developing Ilford HP5 film. I managed to get a pretty good tonal range here despite the fact that my lighting was really harsh. As silly as it may sound, I lit this image using just a standing lamp that I had in my living room at the time with absolutely no diffusion. Most of the time that can lead to some pretty heavy contrast and while that is certainly the case here, I’m proud of the fact that I managed to not lose the details of the model’s skin.
This is a straight scan of the negative with no adjustments in photoshop what-so-ever. Not bad.
Camera was a Mamiya RZ67 using the standard 110mm f/2.8. Still one of the best lenses for studio work in my not so humble opinion. Lots of nice crisp detail with that lens while also having the latitude of something relatively fast for medium format.
