People have been making fun of my hat lately. I don’t mind. The hat feeds my childhood fantasy of one day being as cool as Indiana Jones. Now that I’m an adult I know I’ll never be anywhere near as cool as Indiana Jones but at least I can enjoy the hat when I go out on walks to make photographs around Portland.
Of course the shirt probably isn’t helping.
The Yashica 124G TLR was a nice little camera that I enjoyed using for street photography quite a bit. I recently sold it however in order to help fund my purchase of the Hasselblad 500c/m. Still The Yashica was a nice and light little medium format camera that I didn’t mind getting dinged up out on the street. The light meter was good enough for street shots and the lens more or less as good as a Rolleiflex TLR with a Tessar lens. This particular copy I bought at an estate sale and if I ever come across one again for the right price I’ll probably buy it.
I’m actually a little impressed this image came out at all. The Ektachrome film I was using had to have been at least from the early 1990’s, long past its expiration date. I decided to cross process it because I wasn’t confident I’d get a good slide from the roll and to my surprise the color shift isn’t very extreme.
