I like the way the light just seems to flow over the contours of the model in this image. In a weird way it makes me think of waves stretching up the surface of a sandy beach. Ok sure, kind of an off the wall comparison, but hey, when you look at images for a long time in the editing process, strange associations tend to crop up in your brain.
I made this image using Kodak Ektar which continues to be one of my favorite color film stocks ever. I realize it is primarily used for landscape application given its rather bold and saturated color pallet, but I find in strong lighting situations it works really well for figure studies and nudes as well. It is still shocking to me how grainless Kodak Ektar tends to be, especially in 35mm. It takes a little bit of the sting away from the fact that color slide film is getting harder and harder to find and far more expensive than I'm willing to pay.
