I was talking the other day about how much I love deep blacks in a photograph. Then strangely enough, the very next roll of film I develop has next to no deep blacks at all, just a lot of dark grays.

One Light One Stare
I made this image using a blank wall and one 500w hot light. I didn't even bother diffusing the light with an umbrella, preferring instead to just go with it and embrace the harsh shadows that were sure to extend to the wall behind my subject.
